Overcoming barriers

Everyone has to face certain problems and obstacles - every day
These impediments differ from person to person. Some are easy to recognize, others need our heightened attention. And then there are those that only the closest friends know about - or not even those.

We all know what it is like not to be able to do things we would like to do. And even if it makes us unhappy or angry - we have to live with that. Of course for those that cannot walk, or see, or hear life is a good deal harder than for those who can - and who have taken it for granted all their lives.

Only when dealing with people who have problems we do not know from our own experience, we get to know their world a little better and learn to offer them the kind of help they need - and to spare them the kind they do not need and prefer not to receive.

We the "AG Barrierefrei", would like to remove potentially impeding barriers for all who want to come and visit us, so they can attend the LFT 2009 without worrying about any barriers.

We want you to feel right at home with us!

In four hotels, we have already booked rooms suited for wheelchair use. Women who wouldn't like to depend on the driving service can also get there by public transport. There are good connections from Cologne Central station as well as from the LFT site.

There will be sign interpreters for the hearing impaired and program leaflets printed in Braille. Catering will also provide food for women with allergies.

If you contact us well enough in advance and tell us what you personally need or expect, you give us time to take care of the issues. That would help us as well as you!

Booking rooms soon enough is particularly important. Over the Whitsun holiday, hotel rooms are in high demand, and it is not easy to guess for us in advance how many we will need.

Financial Concept

Financial Concept of LFT 2007 in Marburg

"Each woman gives as much as she can or wants to give, and each woman gets as much as she needs."
We are convinced that this basic idea of solidarity will encourage a shared sense of responsibility and cooperation among each other at LFT.
Therefore, the financial concept of the LFT 2007 in Marburg is used again for the LFT 2009 in Cologne.
We want many women to actively participate in LFT according to their ideas and possibilities.
We would also like to ensure that each woman receives whatever she needs to be able to take part in LFT.

Art exhibition

Art exhibition of LFT 2009

"On Saturday afternoon, May 30, 2009, the art exhibition of LFT 2009 opens with a vernissage. A further highlight is a small auction of objects of art, which takes place on Sunday, May 31 2009.
The exact times of these events are going to be announced in the leaflet containing the programme.
The AG Kunstausstellung (work group organizing the art exhibition) would like to thank all the artists who contribute to the exhibition.
Due to the limited space, further art objects can be included in the exhibition only after individual arrangements.
We are looking forward to welcoming many visitors to our exhibition!

Venues - rooms

Venues at LFT 2009 - "LesbenFrühlingsTreffen"

Universities have traditionally been places of freedom, teaching and critical thinking.
The Lesbian Spring Meeting 2009 will take place in the buildings of the Faculty for Human Sciences at the University of Cologne (Humanwissenschaftliche Fakultät der Universität Köln).
The green space in front of the building, the café terrace and the rose park nearby are inviting places to have a rest and relax.

Protection

In the same way as for the LFTs ...

... in the previous years, we provide a protection service for the venues and gyms that have been booked for the day and evening events at the LFT 2009 in Cologne.
Currently, we are setting up a small core group that is mainly responsible for protection-related questions.
This group is to develop de-escalation strategies for conflict situations and to establish ties with the police in Cologne.
We still require many additional helpers to be able to provide efficient protection.
We are also looking for more Lesbians to join our core group who would like to get involved and seriously engage themselves in this area.

Booths

We would like to set up a colourful market ...

... that reflects the diversity of Lesbian life. The information and sales booths hopefully inspire all women who come to LFT. The booths will be located in building 216 of the Faculty for Human Sciences (Gronewaldstr. 2, Cologne). If you want to exhibit a booth yourself, please get in touch with Heike who is the responsible contact person of the booth committee.
