First impressions.
In 2009, the Lesbian Spring Convention LFT will be held in Cologne for the second time after 10 years. Deemed Germany's "gay stronghold", this city is of particular interest to lesbians everywhere.We, the organizer team, consider it a great and honourable challenge to give new and exciting impetus for the event. So far, we are a group of dedicated lesbians who like to work together, inspire each other, and put in an effort to give the next Cologne LFT the venue it deserves.
We have already formed some work groups and devised a plan. Now we would like to invite more lesbians into our groups and to contribute their own ideas and womanpower to the event.
Whoever is interested to join us or would just like to have a good look first is welcome to come to our organizational meetings.

"Selbstverständnis" - Self-Image
Lesbians Meeting at the Rhine River - Everything in the Flow?Everything is in the flow, on the move... But what exactly moves Lesbians - each one of us and the Lesbian community? Which factors determine and influence our private and political lives as Lesbians? In LFT 2009 in Cologne, we would like to have a look at these questions. We would like to discuss, exchange thoughts, learn from each other and act.
In our private lives, love is what moves us most deeply. But why do so many Lesbians live as singles, why do so many relationships fail? How can we argue without offending each other? The first kiss does not necessarily result in a happy ending. Topics such as sexuality in old age, housing and health care are also part of long Lesbian lives. And lust and sensuality have their rightful place! The motto of our evening programme is: Enjoying with all our senses and celebrating together the Lesbian approach to life together.
Our lives have private, but also political aspects. While some Lesbians comfortably drink tea at home, political and religious fanatics instigate prejudice against homosexuals, and our sisters are abused and deported. We should stay alert and continuously commit ourselves as public life is constantly changing. In LFT 2009, we would like to show that Lesbian empowerment and networks are still important. We will demonstrate together in the city centre of Cologne in order to call attention to Lesbian issues. To show oneself in public means to act!
The concept used in LFT 2007 in Marburg 2007 is also used in Cologne (except during the evening programme): Each participant gives as much as she can give, and each participant gets as much as she needs. There is no quid pro quo, which means that contributors to the programme and helpers do not receive any payment, but are entitled to ask for support (in the same way as other participants and the women exhibiting a booth). In a world of globalised capitalism, we want to set an example against exploitation and overreaching.
LFT 2009 welcomes all Lesbians and male-to-female transsexuals who define
themselves as Lesbians. We hope that LFT provides a discrimination-free
space of mutual respect.
